Hot Brook Canyon
Fall River originates in Hot Brook Canyon and winds its way through the heart of the city. You can follow the meandering brook up the canyon from Evans Plunge for a scenic nature walk right inside the city.

Mammoth Site
View nature of an ancient kind at the Mammoth Site, the largest site of its kind in the world. More than 50 Columbian and woolly mammoths have been unearthed in this ancient, slippery sided sinkhole, now an internationally renowned working paleontological site/museum.
Historical Museum
Originally built as a local schoolhouse in 1893, this grand sandstone building sits squarely in the middle of upper town and lower town." Today the museums exceptional artifacts and engaging displays bring the past to life. Located 1/2 mile south.

Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home
Hot Springs won the selection for the site of the State Soldiers Home largely because of its warm, dry climate, and clean fresh air. The beautifully manicured lawns at the Home are the site of the annual Easter-egg hunt and a favorite sledding spot in the winter. Follow Minnekahta St. directly west.

Veterans Administration Medical Center
The VA Medical Center (originally known as the Battle Mountain Sanitorium) is located directly east of the Resort. Hike the Grand Staircase for an up-close view of the buildings architecture and a birds-eye view of the city.

Battle Mountain Lookout
A moderately strenuous hike or a 4-wheel drive vehicle brings you to the top of Battle Mountain for a glorious view of the valley below. Legend has it the Cheyenne and the Sioux fought here for rights to the warm water.

Butler Park
This city park was originally created for playing polo. Its now used for tennis, T-ball, baseball and soccer during city-sponsored summer recreation programs in addition to the annual 4th of July fireworks. Its southern end is the future site of the new Hot Springs library and affords a great view of the Seven Sisters mountain range.

Cascade Falls
Located 12 miles southwest of Hot Springs on Hwy 71, these natural springs falling over river rock provide a unique swimming spot in a beautifully natural setting.

National Cemetery
On a beautifully manicured green hill north of the VA Center, straight rows of white tombstones form a distinctive reminder of those who served in the armed forces and spent their final days being cared for by the Veterans Administration.

Chautauqua Park
This lovely shady spot (now a city park) was a well-known meeting place in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for traveling lecturers and entertainers. Located in Hot Brook Canyon.

Cold Brook Recreation Area
This man-made reservoir surrounded by red canyon walls is pure refreshment on a hot summer day. Enjoy swimming, fishing, camping or archery. A boat ramp and group-use area are available. One mile north of Hot Springs.

Information Center
(Train Depot)
Reputed to be the smallest Union Depot in the world, this spot was a starting and stopping point for thousands who rode the trains to the bustling community of Hot Springs in the early 1900s. Inside youll find an Information Center run by the Chamber of Commerce. Located directly across the street from Red Rock River Resort.

Evans Plunge
Enjoy natural spring water (87 degrees) at the Evans Plunge indoor pool complete with slides, rings and kiddie pools. Outdoor pool also open in the summer. Evans Plunge was one of the earliest attractions in Hot Springs and is built over one of the largest springs in the area. Located 1/2 mile north of the Resort.

Freedom Trail Head
Stroll the Freedom Trail along the naturally warm Fall River, where watercress thrives year-round and steam rises on a frosty morning.

Southern Hills Golf Course
Play 18 holes on the picturesque Southern Hills Golf Course set within the pine covered hills west of Hot Springs.
